Sugar cookies
Did anyone else grow up begging their mom to take them to Publix to get free sugar cookies from the deli? Omg, that perfectly soft and chewy sugar cookie wrapped in that tacky wax paper, yummmm! Well the memory of that and my boyfriends recent sugar cookie cravings have led to this delicious recipe for you guys to enjoy.
These are THE perfect sugar cookies in my opinion. We did 4 batches to get the cooking time just right for you guys! If you like to bake then you know that 30 extra seconds in the oven for a cookie can make all the difference. In my oven at 350F, 10-11min. is the perfect amount of cooking time. Im a fan of a nice chewy and borderline raw cookie center.
The cookies are also great because you can roll out the dough and make fun shapes and sizes with them for the holidays or make it a weekend project with your kids. All the sprinkles I used for my cookies I bought on amazon and made my own little mix with the sugar. I collect baking sprinkles (don't judge me). Hope you guys love these cookies! xo

Ingredients
2 1/2 cups AP flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
2 sticks of unsalted butter at room temperature
1 3/4 cup of (sifted) sugar for cookie batter
1/2 cup of sugar for rolling
1 large egg yolk
1 large egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350F.
In a medium mixing bowl combine all your dry ingredients: The flour, salt, baking soda, cream of tartar and mix together.
Now in your stand up mixer using a paddle attachment add your two sticks of butter and on medium speed, beat your butter for a few minutes until nice & creamy. To this, now add your sifted sugar and beat again on medium for another 3-4 minutes until well combined and fluffy.
To your butter and sugar mix now add your egg, egg yolk and vanilla. mix another 2 min.
Slowly to this we are going to add our flour/dry mixture we did in step 2. Don't add it all at once. Add 1/2 and mix then add the other 1/2. This will avoid the flour going absolutely everywhere and making a mess. Your batter should be nice and thick, don't be alarmed!
In a small bowl add your 1/2 cup of sugar and sprinkles if you choose to (I put sprinkles on everything) We are now going to measure out 1.2 ounces of batter and roll them out into individual balls and roll this in our sugar mixture as pictured below.
Prepare your sheet pan with parchment paper and bake 6 cookies at a time for 10-11min. making sure to rotate the sheet pan midway through cooking to ensure even cooking. They will look nice and golden around the edges and a little soft and raw in the center. Thats normal. Immediately transfer the parchment paper to a wire rack and let cool for 7-10min.
