Picadillo Cubano


  • 1.5 lbs of 80/20 ground beef

  • 1 red bell pepper, diced

  • 1 green bell pepper, diced

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 5 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoon of olive oil

  • 1/4 cup of chopped spanish olives

  • 2 tablespoons of capers

  • 1/4 cup of raisins

  • 2 cups of tomato sauce

  • 1/2 tbsp. sazon completa

  • 1 packet of Sazon con achiote

  • 1 cup of cooking wine

  • salt & pepper to taste


Make your sofrito, Sauté your onions, peppers and garlic in olive oil over medium high thigh for 5-7 minutes with the sazon completa until your onions are translucent and cooked through.

Now add in your ground beef to the sofrito and using a wooden spoon, break down the meat and cook for 5 minutes over medium heat until the meat starts to brown. Add in the olives, capers, raisins, tomato sauce, salt & pepper, sazon, cooking wine and simmer for 15-20 minutes at low-medium heat. Serve with white rice and enjoy!
