Easy overnight oats

One of my favorite go to breakfast when I don’t feel like cooking, I’m in a rush or want to keep it healthy. They’re creamy, sweet and it leaves me feeling completely satisfied! I know you can buy this pre-made at the supermarket but they’re COMPLETLEY overpriced and do not taste anywhere as good as they will when you make them at home. They’re fast & easy to make and require minimal cleanup, I promise!!

I love using mason jars to make it because it’s easy to store in and take on the go. You can get a 12 pack of 8 oz. mason jars with lids on amazon or at target which are perfect for individual portions.

The kind of oats you make them with will matter because it will affect the texture. I like to make mine with rolled old-fashioned oats because It’ll still be a little chewy while not being too soft. What I love about these oats is that you can make them your own and add whatever toppings you like. I like to make a nice batch of about 5-6 portions to eat throughout the week using just the basic recipe and then adding my toppings that same morning. You can add fresh fruit, nuts, seeds, almond butter, etc... Now, if you choose to add nuts, do so in the morning so they don’t lose their crunch.

This is my basic overnight oat recipe, but below you can find other recipes for add-ins I love.

Ingredients

½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats

½ cup oat milk (or your milk of choice)

1 tbsp. maple syrup

¼ tsp vanilla extract

¼ tsp. Cinnamon

1 tsp. chia seeds (optional)

Instructions

1. To your mason jar, add your milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon & chia seeds. Put the lid on your jar and mix.

2. Now add your oats to the jar ½ at a time. Push them down into the jar slowly making sure the oats are all covered with the milk. Cover and store in the fridge overnight. They will be ready to eat the next morning, uncover and add whichever toppings you’d like!

Peanut butter - add 2 tbsp. of creamy PB and 2 tbsp of your favorite jelly.
